Competitions

There are four sponsored competitions for law students which currently run annually at each of the five New Zealand Law Schools.

Winners of each University competition win the right to represent their University at ALSA – the Australian Law Students' Association Conference – that is held annually in July in Australia.

International Competitions

Winners represent their University at the New Zealand national competitions during the Annual Conference which is held annually in September. The winners of the annual conference are declared New Zealand winners and can represent New Zealand at an international level. New Zealand teams are fortunate for the $72,000 of annual funding provided by the New Zealand Law Foundation to help the teams attend the international competitions. In 2006 teams competed at the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., the International Client Counselling Competition in Cardiff, Wales, and the International Negotiation Competition in Orlando, Florida.
